Our Values…
Safety
It is imperative that safety remain the most important consideration when working with animals. This is often best achieved when the stress level of all those involved is kept as low as possible. This may take time as trust is not built in a moment but over a collection of interactions.
Empathy
Sometimes it is best to try and look at the world through the lens of our patients. How we appear to them and how we feel around them will likely translate into their comfort level. What may work for one, may not work for another.
Compassion
Prioritizing quality of life in animals is paramount to the work of a veterinarian. It is our realization that the meaning of ‘quality of life’ can differ from person to person and culture to culture. The hardest decisions are those of the heart. Discussing a list of options so that you can make the most educated decision is important to providing the best care possible given any situation.
Patience
Sometimes the best things in life take time. In times of stress, quietness, stillness, and patience can help de-escalate any present anxieties. Its not about the clock, its about creating a safe space for our patients. Sometimes it also means stepping away for a bit to allow them to know, we respect your space. With patience, trust will begin to grow.
