Dr. Maryn Nakasone
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai’i. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cellular Molecular Biology from University of Hawai’i at Hilo. I then graduated from Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2012. I continued my academic journey with a year-long rotating internship at VCA Emergency Animal Hospital and Referral Center in San Diego where I trained in internal medicine, emergency medicine, cardiology, surgery, and avian and exotic medicine. Since then I worked in emergency, general practice and overseas. I was fortunate enough to be able to work in Japan for about 6 years helping clients with the difficult process of traveling overseas with their pets.
I enjoy educating clients about their options to ensure that their furry family members can live the best life they can. I also have a strong interest in animal behavior, veterinary eastern medicine, animal nutrition, and internal medicine.
I currently share my life with my husband, our senior cat (Kali), and our senior dog (Michi). When time allows, we love to go hiking and exploring the world through both our stomachs and passports.
